Waif Wednesday

Happy Waif Wednesday! Meet our wonderful Waifs of the Week: Harlow, Maurie, and Huckleberry. One of our original Waifs of the Week found his forever family, so Maurie is taking his place. These three cuties can’t wait to find their people!

Hi there, I’m Harlow! I’m friendly, social, smart, and full of fun. I’m a darling, almost 3-year-old sweetheart with the most expressive face. I first came to Wayside about a year ago as a transfer from another shelter. I can’t wait to be part of a family and go on adventures together and do all the fun stuff that families do!

I’m super sweet and I love people! And guess what? I’m already housebroken and crate trained! I love to play with my toys, and I never turn down a tasty treat, which I’m happy to sit for. I love to learn, so hope you’ll teach me lots of new things! I love other dogs and I have excellent doggie social skills. I’d love another playful dog in my life, but I’ll be happy as your only dog as well, as long as you spend lots of time with me! I love going for walks and I do awesome on my leash, so I will need daily exercise in my new home.

If I sound like the perfect pup for you, come to Wayside and ask to meet me!

Love, Harlow

Hi there, I’m Maurie! As you can see from my photos and video, I’m a handsome, grey and white tabby with bright green eyes. I’m a big guy, but I’m working on slimming down with diet and lots of exercise.

I was surrendered to Wayside when my owner could no longer take care of me. I was so scared and confused with the big move, but luckily I’ve been able to live in a foster home while I wait for my new home. My foster mom says I’m social, playful, and when I’m in the mood for pets, I LOVE them! When I’m not in the mood for pets I like to look out the window and watch for birds. I like to lay in bed while my foster mom reads or works on the computer, so if you’re looking for a sidekick, I’m your guy!

I’m looking for a quiet home where I can relax and play and be loved forever. If that sounds good to you, come to Wayside and ask to meet me!

I also have a cool video!

Love, Maurie

Hi there, I’m Huckleberry! I’m a 1-year-old people-lover, and I cannot wait until the day that I have my very own family to love. I came to Wayside via the ASPCA after they rescued me. It feels so good to be safe, cared for, and loved!

Besides my stunning good looks, I’m friendly, social, athletic, and easy-going. I’d love to exercise, play, and act goofy with you, then curl up right next to you as we unwind for the day. I love treats, and I’m happy to sit for them.  I’m a typical lab––eager to please and motivated by treats––so I hope you will continue training me. I’m curious yet a little wary of toys. I walk great on a leash, and I’d love a daily walk with you through our neighborhood! I’m still learning about doggie social skills, so if you do have another dog, I’ll need to meet them before we go home together, just to make sure we’re a good match for each other.

It’s hard for a social dog like me to be homeless. I need a family of my very own to take care of. I want to make you smile every single day! I’ll be patiently waiting for you, so come to Wayside and ask to meet me!

Love, Huckleberry

Waif Wednesday

Happy Waif Wednesday! We’re excited to introduce you to our paw-mazing Waifs of the Week: Shylla, Don, and Rudie Roo. These three lovebugs are so ready to find their forever families!

Hi there, I’m Shylla! I’m smart, affectionate 2-year-old sweetheart and there is no place on this earth that I’d rather be than right by your side. I came to Wayside as a stray, so I can’t wait to find my family!

My friends here at Wayside have helped me with a lot. I’m almost housebroken and crate trained, and I’ve learned how to trust and love people. Right now, I live in a foster home so I could learn about life with a family!

Foster mom understands that I needed a little extra time to relax and unwind. I stay in a gated room or in my crate when no one is home because I’m still working on my housebreaking skills. All I ask is that you’re patient with me! I also know all sorts of commands that I can’t wait to show you. I’m a good girl!

I’m affectionate and cuddly and I like to give kisses. I’ll even crawl up in your lap if you let me! I’m also energetic and playful. I love walks, runs, and I’m car rides. I walk great on my leash, especially when I use a harness. If you’re looking for a jogging partner, I’m your gal! I live with other dogs in my foster home, and we all get along great. I’d love to have another playful dog in my forever home.

If you’d like to schedule a time to meet me, please contact Wayside Adoptions at (816)986-4426. I can’t wait to see you!

Love, Shylla

Greetings! My name is Don, and I am so ready to be your best friend! I am a handsome, 2-year-old orange tabby with the prettiest light green eyes you’ve ever seen.

My friends at Wayside say that I am more interested in snuggling on their laps than playing, and I sometimes even crawl on their shoulders. I spent a little bit of time in a home, and it turns out that I love to play with other animals. If you have nice, energetic dogs, we might get along!

I’m a sweet guy with a lot of love to give, so if you’re in the market for a new sidekick, I’m your guy!

If I sound like to perfect kitty for you, come to Wayside and ask to meet me! Hope to see you soon!

Love, Don

Hi there, I’m Rudie Roo! I’m a sweet five-year-old gal looking for my forever home. I came to Wayside as a transfer from a partner shelter when they ran out of space. Moving around was a little stressful, so I’m definitely ready to finally find my people!

I may be smaller, but I have a huge spunky personality. Ask anyone! I love playing with toys and other dogs, and I can make new friends in an instant, just as long as I’m in charge. Hey, I’m a natural leader. It’s what I do best!

I’m also super smart! I know “sit” and “down,” and I’m a pro at walking on a leash. Walks may be fun, but they’re also serious business for me – someone has to patrol the squirrels and birds, right? While I love my walks, they need to be pretty short and calm.

If I sound like the perfect pup for you, come to Wayside and ask to meet me! I know you’ll fall in love with me right away!

Love, Rudie Roo

Waif Wednesday

Happy Waif Wednesday! Meet our amazing Waifs of the Week: Tim, Miles, and Buster. These three guys can’t wait to find their forever families!

Hi peeps! Tim here! I’m a happy, friendly boy who loves to play, and I’m just waiting for my new playmate to come along and take me home.

My very favorite thing in the world is playing with toys! Fetch and tug are pretty hard to do by myself, though. Wouldn’t you love to join me? And since I’m so toy motivated, I should be pretty easy to train. I am really hoping for a family that will help me learn “sit” and “come.” You know what else? I love going for walks outside. Sometimes I can pull a little on my leash, but the nice folks here at Wayside say I’m pretty easy to handle. And I’m a social fella that they describe as “playfully wiggly.”

I also have a cool video! Check it out here.

Come to Wayside and ask to meet me!

Love, Tim

Pleased to meet you! My name is Miles, and I’m a handsome buff and white shorthaired boy. I came to Wayside from another shelter that was low on space.

I’m a confident, friendly boy. I enjoy being petted on my chin, neck, head and cheeks. However, I can get overstimulated. So I ask that you please go slowly with me, petting me a couple of times and then giving me a break. I love people and attention, but sometimes I’m just so happy to have human companionship, I get a little too excited about it. If you visit me and talk with me, I might give you a little kitty kiss on the hand. I like to play, too, especially with my toy mouse.

I also have a cool video! Check it out here.

Come to Wayside and ask to meet me!

Love, Miles

Hey there, I’m Buster! I’m a sweet 4-year-old fella in search of my forever family. My friends here at Wayside say I’m one of the best leash-walkers they’ve ever met. Seriously! I love going on walks, so I’ve had lots of practice. I barely ever pull at all. I’m pretty smart, but I’m still working on commands. My friends are helping me with that, and I think some basic obedience training would be great for both of us. I’m very food motivated, so a few extra treats here and there wouldn’t hurt!

I like making friends, but sometimes I get a little nervous. I like pets and snuggles, but only on my own terms. Just give me some time to sniff you out, and I know we’ll be besties for life!

I do request that you bring the whole family, including dogs, to meet me before bringing me home. I just want to make sure we can all be buddies.

Come to Wayside and ask to meet me!

Love, Buster

Waif Wednesday

Happy Waif Wednesday! We’d like to introduce you to our wonderful Waifs of the Week: Bailey Bagel, Sampson, and Conner. One of our original Waifs of the Week, Jesse, went home, so Sampson is taking her place. These three love bugs are so ready to find their families!

Hi there, I’m Bailey Bagel! I’m a sweet one-year-old pup ready for my forever home! My friends say that I’m a great girl––super smart and sweet. I love to be in the middle of the fun and don’t miss a beat. I’ve had the chance to spend some time in a foster home where we’ve learned all sorts of awesome things about me!

I know “sit,” “down,” “drop it,” “hup” (for jumping up on things) and a few others. I would love to learn more and will pick up new commands quickly. I’m very happy to be active and playful with my foster family and then snooze on the couch for a few hours. I also like to watch TV and snuggle! And guess what? I’m also housebroken! I can play well with other dogs, but I also know how to entertain myself.

Come and meet me today!

Love, Bailey Bagel

Hi there, I’m Sampson! I’m a mellow three-year-old guy ready to find my forever home. My friends here call me a Personal Assistant. This means that I’ll always be by your side, ready to help you out with any tasks. I’ll read and watch TV with you, but my favorite activity is relaxing. Toys aren’t really my thing, but I do like an orderly household, so if they’re around, they’ll never leave my sight.

I’m affectionate and easy-going, so I’ll always let you know how much I love you. I’m a healthy guy, but I do have something called FIV. It’s no big deal––I can live a totally normal cat life! It’s just important that I only live inside and have regular vet check-ups, but that’s something you would do for any cat.

If I sound like the perfect kitty for you, come to Wayside to meet me!

Love, Sampson

Hi there! My name’s Conner, and I’m so happy you stopped to read about me! I’m a friendly boy who just loves people so much. Do you like giving pets? Then, you’re in luck, ’cause I like getting them! I’m hoping to find a home that can give me lots of attention and exercise––I love, love, LOVE playing!

I think it would be so cool to go to training together. I like treats, and I’m super eager to learn commands like “sit,” “come,” and all kinds of other doggie manners. Would you like to take the time to teach me? In return, I promise I’ll love you with everything I’ve got!

Oooh I hope you come to meet me soon! And if you’ve got other pooches at home, be sure to bring them along too. I just want to make sure we all get along great.

Love, Conner

Waif Wednesday

Happy Waif Wednesday! Meet our lovable Waifs of the Week: Pablo, Winston, and Leroy. One of our original Waifs of the Week, Sampson, went home, so Winston has stepped up to the plate. These sweet boys are so excited to find their forever homes!

pablo 1.jpg

Hi! My name is Pablo and I’m a handsome fella waiting for my forever family. I’m a little shy when I first meet someone but I warm up quickly. We’ll be best friends in no time! I don’t know any commands yet, but I like treats and I’m sure we can work together to learn new things.

My friends at Wayside say that I do well on a leash. Let’s gear up and go explore the world together! I’m up for anything as long as I’m with you. After we exercise, I’d love to curl up right by your side. I’ll even let you pick what show we watch! I like to play with other dogs, so if you’ve got a canine friend at home, we might be a good fit. You’re welcome to bring them with you to meet me and we can get to know each other before heading home.

I know it won’t take long to find my special people. Could it be you?

Love, Pablo

Winston3.jpg

Hey there! Thanks for reading about me! My name is Winston, and I’m just about the sweetest, mellowest guy you could ever meet. I’m a big, white cat with just a little gray on the top of my head. And I have beautiful, exquisitely lined pear green eyes. I am also front-declawed.

I guess you could describe me as a big, fluffy cloud. Or a sweet, pillowy marshmallow. I’m a friendly fellow who loves attention and affection, but I like to let you make the first move. Once you start petting me, I won’t want you to stop. At 7 years of age, I’m right in the prime of my life. I know what’s most important: giving and receiving love. Do you think we could do that for each other?

Love, Winston

Leroy1.jpg

Hi there, my name is Leroy! I am a 1-year-old lab/retriever mix. I came in very shy and unsure of what was happening.  Then I started Confidence College, and that’s where I met some really nice friends. It takes me some time to warm up to new people, so just let me come to you when I’m comfortable. They say I am really getting better at warming up to people!

I have also done some clicker training, learned how to target a hand, and know the “look” command, where I look into your eyes and focus on you. I am really good at these and would love to learn many more things with you! I enjoy being in doggy playgroups, and I’ve gotten really good at making friends.

Please come meet me in person soon!

You can watch a cool video about me here!

Love, Leroy

Waif Wednesday

Happy Waif Wednesday! Meet our incredible Waifs of the Week: Carlie, Hamlet, and Beau. These three kiddos can’t wait to find their forever families!

Pleased to meet you! My name is Carlie and I’m sweet one-year-old gal looking for my forever home. Moving around and being the new pup in town is scary, but I’m keeping my head held high. I know it won’t be long until I find my forever home!

I’m a sweet girl and I love life! I don’t know any commands yet, but I’m hoping to find a family who will help me learn. I’m sure if you throw a few toys and treats my way we can learn in no time. I also like to explore, and I do pretty well on a leash. I’d love to check out the neighborhood or maybe a dog park!

If you’re looking for a sweet best friend to go through life with, look no further! Come to Wayside and ask to meet me!

Love, Carlie

Hamlet

Pleased to meet you! My name is Hamlet, like the lead character in one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays. That’s quite a moniker for a quiet, unassuming guy like me.

I’m pretty shy and timid at times, so if you come to Wayside to meet me, I might be hiding under my bed. Please don’t let that stop you from saying hello, though! If you speak to me softly and pet me gently, I will warm up pretty quickly. Before you know it, I will be purring and rubbing my handsome orange face against your hand! I will probably never be one of the bravest cats in the world, but I’m definitely one of the sweetest. Take me home, and I will reward you with a lifetime of love and loyalty.

I’ve never seen “Hamlet,” by the way. But I know my own play will have a happy ending, so come to Wayside and ask to meet me!

Love, Hamlet

BeauValentine2.jpg

Hi! My name is Beau, and I’m a handsome fella ready for my forever home. I’m about two years old and I’ve got gorgeous black and white fur. Moving from shelter to shelter has been scary but everyone here is so nice. I know it won’t be long until I find my very own family.

My friends here say that I’m one of the friendliest dogs they’ve ever known! I’m also pretty smart. I know “sit,” and I’m eager to learn more commands and tricks. If you throw some treats my way, we’ll learn in no time! I’m a curious dude, and I like to meet new people. I do pretty well on a leash, and I love being outdoors. Maybe we could go for a stroll around the park together? Walks are my favorite!

I do request that you bring the whole family, including dogs, to meet me. I just want to make sure we’re a good match before we head home. I can’t wait to meet you so we can start our lives together!

Love, Beau

Waif Wednesday

Happy Waif Wednesday! Meet our fabulous Waifs of the week: Budrow, Munchkin, and Helena. These three lovebugs can’t wait to find their forever homes!

Pleased to meet you! My name is Helena and I’m a sweet one-year-old gal with beautiful, brown fur. I came to Wayside after my last shelter ran out of space. Moving around has been a little scary but Wayside let me know that it won’t be long until I find my special people!

I can be a little shy when I first meet someone, but I warm up quickly. Once I’ve had some time to sniff out a new situation, I’ll wag my tail and give you so many kisses! I like treats and I take them very gently. I don’t know a whole lot of commands yet, but if you throw some treats my way, I promise I’ll learn quickly. This girl loves her treats!

I’m great at walking on a leash, so I’d love to spend some time outside with you! We could go for a walk around the neighborhood – maybe even a run if you can handle it! – or check out a cool park. I’m up for anything as long as we’re together. I think I’d love to have a dog friend at home, but I’ll have to meet any other pups you have before I come home with you. I think it would be great if you brought them with you to meet me.

If I sound like the perfect pup for you, please come to Wayside and ask to meet me! I think we’ll make a great team!

You can watch a cool video about me here!

Love, Helena

Munchkin

Meow! I’m Munchkin. I’m a loving eight-year-old gal looking for my forever home. I came to Wayside after I was found as a stray right after New Year’s. You can imagine how cold and lonely I was out there on my own, but my friends here at Wayside have given me a warm temporary home!

I love attention, and I’ll always make sure you remember that. If I’m not busy, I’ll sit on your books while you’re reading, I’ll sit in your lap while you’re watching TV, and I’ll sit and watch you sweep when you’re cleaning. You’ll wonder how you ever managed without me!

I might be a senior gal, but don’t let my age fool you! I love playing and running around, especially when toys are involved. In fact, I like to carefully plan out my attacks when playing with toys. I’m a smart cookie, and I know what those toys are thinking! Wands are my favorite, but I can play with anything.

If I sound like the perfect kitty for you, come to Wayside to meet me!

Love, Munchkin

Hi there! My name is Budrow, and I’m a handsome one-and-a-half-year-old fellow who is full of youth and energy! I was transferred here from another shelter when they ran out of space, but boy am I glad to be at Wayside where I know I will find my forever home!

It may take me a little time to warm up to you, so please don’t let that overshadow my goofy personality. I just need some time to get to know you, like you will do with me. If you have any yummy treats or call me by my name, I’ll be sure to warm up to you!

I will need a lot of fun and daily exercise, so if this sounds like something you can keep up with, I’m sure we will be hooked at the hip! I prefer not to share my love for you, so I would like to be the only dog, and because I am so strong and full of excitement, I may do best in a home with no children under 5 for now.

If you are looking for a fun and goofy dog who will give you unconditional love, please come visit me at Wayside Waifs!

You can watch a cool video about me here!

Love, Budrow
