Waif Wednesday

Please welcome our Waifs of the Week: Loki, Wally, and Nero!

“Hi I’m Loki! I’m a 37-pound, guy who was brought here when my last shelter ran out of space for me. It’s okay though! I know this will be my last stop before my peeps find me and I’m on my way to my fur-ever home. I hope that home is yours! I’m a friendly guy who will do grr-eat in a home with children or other furry friends. I love making friends, whether they have two legs or four. I also love to learn and I’m eager to learn all the exciting things you have to teach me. I already know sit but I’d like to add more to my list. I’m super motivated when you reward me with fun toys to play with. Getting active is important for humans and dogs and doing it together will make it even more fun! I have PAWSOME leash manners so we can explore the world on walks together. When we aren’t on the go, we can chill out with each other and enjoy a night full of belly rubs and cuddles. I’m already dreaming of the day you come in to meet me. I hope you’ll be my happily ever after!”

“Thanks for reading about me! My name is Wally, and I’m a beautiful brown and white longhaired boy with an adorable little beauty mark on my nose. Oh, and I have the cutest meow! I love to chat, so if you come to Wayside and meet me, you will probably get a chance to hear it. I came to Wayside from another shelter that was low on space. I’m so happy to be here, where I am certain to find the forever person or people for me! I love attention, and I especially enjoy playing! I have lots of energy, you see. I sure hope my new family will play with me! When I had my Felineality assessment here at Wayside, they told me I am a Personal Assistant. That means I tend to be moderately brave in new situations, and I crave the company of people. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, I will want to be right there, by your side, ready to lend a fluffy paw. You will wonder how you ever got along without me!”

Learn more about Wally here.

“Hi there, I’m Nero!  I really want to stay humble and grounded, but I also want you to realize what a true gem of a dog I am.  So that’s my dilemma.  I decided to ask some of my volunteer friends what they think of me and their love for me came shining through.  So here goes….I’m smart, appreciative, easy to train, happy, friendly, social, and I have so much potential that the sky is truly the limit with me.  I am just an all-around great…and humble…dog! I’m a handsome, 2 year old, 56 pound beauty with stunning brown eyes.  And I think I’m at least kennel trained, because I keep my area clean and I know to go to the bathroom when I get outside.  I came to Wayside as a transfer from Louisiana.  While I felt happy to be here, I also had trouble focusing and I was feeling sort of stressed about my life and uncertain about my future.  I was jumpy and mouthy, trying to get attention the only way I knew how.  So I joined Wayside’s Peace Academy for high energy dogs that lack manners.  I began working with a specific group of volunteers who understood my stress and knew how to help me.  That’s when my delightful personality, intelligence, eagerness to please, and quiet energy became so apparent.  I welcomed my chance to shine and I aced it!  And now, I’m never looking back. I’m still a work in progress, but I’ve come so far so fast.  I love to go for walks and I have excellent leash skills.  I’m learning how to heel and I like to check in with you from time to time just to know you’re happy too.  Sometimes I get extra excited and I tug at my leash, but I’m easy to redirect.  I’m really good at listening to you and I want so very much to make you happy, so as long as I can figure out what that means, I’m all over it.  More than anything, I love getting attention from you. That makes me feel special and loved.  I know all sorts of commands that I can’t wait to show you.  And when my puppy behavior gets me riled up, it’s amazing to watch my mind work as I mostly make good choices to calm down, knowing what you expect from me.  I’m so happy when you’re proud of me! I hope I get adopted by an active family that wants to include me in everything.  I want to hang out with you and go on adventures together and cuddle with you in the evening as we unwind from a fun-filled day.  I know we can’t always be together, but that’s just what I wish for.  And if you have a few toys for me to play with, that would be great too!  I will need to meet the whole family before we all go home together.  My play style might be a little too much for young kids and some other dogs, so let’s just make sure we’re all a good match for each other from the start. I just want to belong to a family who will love me and believe in me.  If you are willing to put in a little work up front to teach me everything you want me to know, then I promise to do my part to be the best companion ever.  We’ll have a lifetime full of good times and happy memories.  I can’t wait!”

Waif Wednesday

Please welcome our Waifs of the Week: Vincent, Charlie, and Miss Bailey! *Note, Vincent has already found a home, but we still wanted to include his name!

“Thank you for reading about me! My name is Charlie, and I’m a handsome, dapper black and white shorthaired boy with one of the cutest, pinkest noses you’ve ever seen! I came to Wayside from another shelter that was low on space, and I’m tickled pink to be here, where I just know I will find my forever person or people. You might have noticed that I am 7 years old. That is just barely middle age for a cat! In fact, I am right in my prime—well past the silly kitten stuff and ready to focus my time, attention and affection on you! When I had my Felineality assessment here at Wayside, they told me I am a Secret Admirer! That means that I tend to be a little shy and timid in new situations. However, I am a people-oriented cat and need to be around people. I am keeping my paws crossed for a gentle, patient adopter who will give me time and space to get acclimated to my new surroundings. In return, I promise to fill your home and heart with beauty, purrs and love.”

You can learn more about Charlie here.

“Hello there. My name is Miss Bailey and I am super excited that you clicked on my profile. I am a beautiful blonde who weighs about 50 pounds. I am two years old and super friendly. I don’t think I’ve met a stranger, either the 2 legged or 4 legged kind. It’s pretty awesome to be friends with everyone and every dog I meet. I came to Wayside when my last shelter ran out of room; but I’m not worried, I know my furever family will find me here. I already know the commands “sit” and “come” and I would love to learn some more. I am motivated by treats; but I LOVE praise. Just sing my praises and I will wag my tail for you forever. I’m a happy girl who loves attention and I’ll show my love in lots of different ways. I will jump around for you, lean on you and even give you kisses. I might even roll over so you can give me an awesome belly rub. Do you think I might be the right dog for you? If so, please come see me right away. I can’t wait to meet you and start falling in love.”

Waif Wednesday

Please welcome our Waifs of the Week: Alexa, Ellery, and Sherry!

“Hi there! Thanks so much for reading about me! My name is Alexa and I’m a sweet four-year-old gal looking for my forever home. I came to Wayside after I was found as a stray. Being out on my own sure was scary and I’m pretty happy to be somewhere warm and safe. Everyone here is so nice but I can’t help but dream of having my forever home. I can be a little timid when I first meet someone. I’m looking for a family who will give me the time and patience I need to sniff out a new situation. Because I’m a little shy I would do best in a home with kiddos over the age of five. I’m also looking for a family who will work with me on basic obedience training. Being a stray I haven’t had anyone around to help me learn things. I promise I’ll learn quickly! My friends around here tell me that I can be a little weary when I walk on a leash. As I gain confidence I promise I’ll work on being your best walking pal! If you’re looking for a sweet pal to go through life with, look no further! I sure can’t wait to meet you!”

Learn more about Alexa here.

“Hey guys! Thanks for reading about me! My name is Ellery and I’m a 2-year-old gal. I currently reside at Wayside Waifs, but would love to go to a more permanent home. On the feline-ality chart, I’m considered to be a Sidekick. This means I’m great company to keep. Although at first I can be scared and timid, so it will take some time warming up to you. You should know that I need to go to a home where it’s dog free and no kids under the age of 7. This is just precautionary, as I would like to avoid any and all accidents. I would prefer going to a home that is considerably quiet. So, if you’re looking for a cuddly cat to take on the journey of life with, then come to Wayside Waifs and ask to meet with me today!”

Learn more about Ellery here.

“Hi everyone! My name is Sherry and I’m so excited you’re reading about me! I’m a beautiful one-year-old girl. I’ve been told my sleek coat is very form-fitting and flattering! I came to Wayside Waifs as a stray awhile back, and last month I came back as a stray once again from Grandview. The lovely animal control officer picked me up and dropped me off here, for shelter. I know my story seems sad, but I’m extremely grateful to the staff and volunteers here! I am ready to find my forever home though, and hopefully it’s you! One thing you should know about me is that I’m high energy. I’d benefit from an active home, where I will get regular exercise, walks, and mental stimulation. It is recommended I go to a home without children under the age of five, just because of my size, strength, and energy level. I already know the command ‘sit,’ but I’m ready to learn more! I enjoy food and toys, so presenting me with yummy treats or a toy will help me enjoy basic obedience training. I enjoy exploring my environment, and checking everything out. I can be playful, and have a tendency to be jumpy and mouthy. I will benefit from impulse control training! We’re still working on my leash skills, as I tend to pull hard. Right now, I’m using a harness and a slip lead, but I’m working hard to ensure I just need a harness! I need a confident owner for a confident girl like me! I do enjoy meeting new people, and giving kisses and hugs. I’ve met a few dogs here at Wayside, and they seem fun! I have a rough play style, and some dogs may not appreciate how I interact with them. We recommend you bring in your dogs to meet me, so we can make sure we can play together! Hopefully I sound like the one for you! I’m energetic, but if you like to run, I’d be a great partner for you. Come visit me at Wayside Waifs. I’ll be waiting!”

Waif Wednesday

Please welcome our Waifs of the Week: Tigger, Ginger, and Domino!

“The most wonderful thing about Tiggers is Tiggers are wonderful things! I’m a little less bouncy than the Tigger you’re thinking of, but I promise I’m just as cute and loyal. I’m here at Wayside waiting to find my furever family and maybe that could be you! I’m considered the Leader of the Band. That means that I’m always in and around the action. I’m confident and I always want to check out the adventure around me but I’m also super sweet and cuddly. I love being pet and scratched and I’ll repay you in purrs and head butts! I also love pouncing and chasing on different toys. When you come to visit me, you’ll see on my information card that I’m FIV positive. I hope you won’t let this stop you from taking me home, because with a healthy, indoor-only lifestyle, an FIV positive cat can have a long, happy life! I can’t wait to meet you! I know we’ll be the best of friends.”

Learn more about Tigger here. He also has a video, which you can view here.

“Hi there! My name is Ginger and I’m so glad that you stopped by to read more about me, and I think you will be too! I don’t want to brag but I’m told that I’m a beautiful American Blue Heeler mix with pretty spots and a foxy smile. And I’m told that I have the personality to match. I transferred to Wayside from another shelter. Moving around can be scary but I’m so excited to be here because rumor has it that you can find a really great family here at Wayside and that is just what I am looking for! You see, I’m a lovable, energetic girl who is looking for an active, affectionate family. Yep, that’s right, I said affectionate because I LOVE belly rubs. I’ll snuggle up next to you or roll over for some extra pets and love and I’ll have some nice kisses for you in return!! When we aren’t busy loving each other, I would love daily exercise. I could be a good running or walking buddy. Long walks around the neighborhood? Visits to the park? That all sounds great to me! I’m capable of keeping up with an active lifestyle and in fact, I would just love that! Another skill of mine is jumping! I have the ability to jump very high, and because of that, I’ll need a tall fence or to be monitored while I’m outside. Just in case I get the itch to test my jumping skills. I have met a few dogs here at wayside and I seemed to like them. I’m told I have good social skills, but I would still love to meet any future furry dog siblings. Please bring them to Wayside so we can make sure that we will be a great fit! I’m a smart girl who already knows multiple commands but I could benefit from some obedience training. I mean, who doesn’t like to learn new things and show off their skills? I know I would! Wow, they sure say a lot of nice things about you here! Really makes a girl feel good. What would make me feel even better is meeting you! I’ll be sure to show you how great you are too. Please come to Wayside soon so that we can meet and start our adventures together!”

Learn more about Ginger here.

“Hello there! I’m an adorable little kitten! I am a bundle of fun in a small package and I am so ready for a new family to call my own. Kittens are so much fun and boy do we love to play! I will need some work on training but we will have a lot of fun along the way. Being such a youngster I will definitely need both physical and mental stimulation to help me stay well rounded. Give me some fun and interactive toys in the mix and we will have the time of our lives! I think I should also tell you that I love to cuddle. Curl up with me and I will purr to show you just how happy I am; cuddles are my favorite! If you are looking for a new buddy to bring you smiles and cheer, come on out to Wayside Waifs and ask to meet me!”

Waif Wednesday

Please welcome our Waifs of the Week: Brad, Romy, and Sheba!

Hi there everybody. My name’s Brad, and I am a handsome one-year-old boy! I originally came to Wayside Waifs as a stray, as a nice Good Samaritan rescued me from the streets! I’m extremely thankful to be here, because I’ve been able to hang out with people who have helped me progress in so many ways. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. After arriving at the shelter, the staff and volunteers noticed I was active, strong, and affectionate, but I was also rather excitable. I was put on Peace Academy to work on my behavior, and I have to say I’ve improved! I know the commands sit, come, stay/wait, shake, and down! I’d love to learn more with you, and I enjoy treats, toys, and attention. I use to be wary of strangers, but I’m learning that I can trust the people here, because they want to see me thrive! Because of my jumpy, and mouthy behavior, we do ask that I go to a home without children under the age of ten. I just don’t want to accidentally hurt anyone! I’m a smart, energetic guy who is looking for an active home where I can get regular exercise, training, and mental stimulation. I’ve met a few dogs here, and they seem okay, but we do ask that you bring in your dogs to meet me so we can make sure we are a good pair. I’ve been known to pull on a leash, but I enjoy walking and being with you and exploring! Thank you so much for reading about me. I truly believe I’ve made great strides while spending my time here. I’m ready to find that perfect home for me, and I hope it’s with you! Please ask for Brad when visiting Wayside, and you won’t be disappointed.”

“Hi! It’s nice to meet you! My name is Romy and I’m a five-year-old kitty with gorgeous brown and white fur. I came to Wayside from another shelter when they ran out of space. It’s okay though! Everyone here is so nice and I know it won’t be long until I find a family to love forever and ever. I think five is the perfect age. I’m independent enough that I can do my own thing but I’m also playful and affectionate. Toy mice are my favorite! I could chase one of those around for hours. Around here they call me an Executive. I’m a pretty important cat and I stay busy. Once we get home I’ll inspect everything to make sure it’s in tip-top shape. After I check things out I’ll probably take a little snooze. (Hey! Keeping the house in order is a tough job!) Don’t worry, I’ll always make time to cuddle up with you. If you’re looking for a best friend to go through life with, look no further! I might just be the cat for you! Come to Wayside and ask to meet me!”

Learn more about Romy here.

Welcome, and thanks for stopping to read about me!  My name is Sheba, and I’m seven years old.  I don’t mean to brag, but I’m a “looker” with a big heart and a soulful face, as you can see from my picture.  Lots of people search for puppies and don’t know how wonderful us more mature dogs can be.  I have a lot of love and life left and would be honored to share it with you.  Well, let me tell you all about me…  I’m comfortable and confident with people and enjoy their attention. When I was transferred to Wayside from another shelter, I was pretty sad and anxious.  The good people here have helped me feel calmer and loved, and I’m really looking forward to finding my new forever family. If you’re looking for a big, sweet, spunky girl, that would be me!  I’m bouncy and playful, have plenty of energy and love my walks.  I can pull hard on my leash when I’m excited or see another dog, but I’ll settle down and be a good walking buddy after a bit.  It would be wonderful if you’re willing to help me learn better leash skills and some basic obedience skills.  I already know the sit command, and since I’m motivated by yummy treats, I’m sure I can learn more cool skills if you take the time to teach me.  I’d love to make you proud! When it comes to other dogs, let’s just say I have a strong personality.  I can be bossy and over-bearing with some dogs, and playful and friendly to others.  If you have other dogs in the home I’ll need to meet them when you come to see me.  Speaking of visiting me, I sure hope you’ll come soon.  It could be that we’re the perfect match, so why waste any more time?  Let’s get this party started!”

Waif Wednesday

Please welcome our Waifs of the Week: Daytona, Chy, and Frittata!

“Daytona is my name and that might make you think of the beach!  The beach is for fun, and I just happen to be a girl who’s looking for a family that wants to have some fun!  I’ve got plenty of energy and I love people.  I was transferred to Wayside from another shelter and I’m betting that I’ll find my new family soon.  I see lots of people coming here who are looking for a new furry friend.  Since you stopped to read about me, maybe you’ll decide that we are meant for each other! When you meet me, you’ll notice that I’m very friendly and happy.  I’m interested in just about everything…especially treats!  You could use those to get my attention and teach me some basic obedience skills.  I’d love to learn some commands so that I can be the best pet ever.  You could also help me learn good leash skills because sometimes I pull hard.  I can’t help it…it’s an exciting world out there and I love exploring it.  I think it would be wonderful to explore it with you!  When we come home tired from our adventures, we can cuddle up for some resting and loving time.  I’m a big fan of that too!Do you have any other dogs?  I’m energetic and playful and like to be with dogs who aren’t rude or aggressive.  When you come to visit me, I’ll need to meet any other dogs in your home…just to make sure we all get along.  I’m sure we will.  I can’t wait to meet you and show you what a good girl I am.  Hopefully you’ll come soon and see for yourself what a good companion I’d be.  Just ask for Daytona, like the beach.  I’ll be waiting and wiggling!”

Learn more about Daytona here.

“Purrrleased to meet you! My name is Chy and I’m a darling nine-month-old kitty with gorgeous brown fur. I came to Wayside when my last shelter ran out of space. Moving around has been very scary and while I’m not totally comfortable yet, I’m doing much better thanks to the kind and compassionate folks here. As I’m sure you guessed by my name, I’m quiet and reserved. I don’t like a lot of commotion. I’m looking for a home with kiddos over the age of 7. I don’t really enjoy being picked up and I need a family who will understand when I need my space. I need to have my own quiet area, like a spare bedroom, to help me adjust when I get home. In exchange I promise you I’ll be your life-long pal. Around here they tell me I’ve got a sweet purr. I love being pet on my head and I LOVE ear scratches. I also give excellent headbutts and I’m the best biscuit maker here! I love taking cat naps and I curl up into the cutest ball you’ll ever see. If you’re looking for a sweet, calm kitty to add to your family then look no further. I might just be the cat for you. Come to Wayside and ask to meet me!”

Learn more about Chy here. She also has a video, which you can view here.

“Hi there, I’m Frittata!  I’m such a good girl.  I’m playful and sweet and super fun!  I hope you will take the time to get to know me and let me show you what an all-around great dog and wonderful companion I can be.  All I need is someone to believe in me and give me my chance to shine. I’m an athletic and strong, 2 year old, 50 pound bundle of love with a silly smile and gentle eyes.   I am a beauty!  And I’m already fully housebroken.  I came to Wayside as a stray and then no one ever came for me.  Well, that’s their loss, because I am one fine dog!  I felt sort of stressed at the shelter though, so I’ve been able to relax and re-charge in a loving foster home.  It’s fantastic here and I’m not sure I want to leave, but Foster Mom tells me this is just a temporary stop on my journey.  She’s teaching me a lot about life and manners, so that I’ll be ready when you come for me.  I can’t wait for that day and I’m so very excited to get to know you! Life in my foster home is one happy and fun adventure!  Foster Mom loves me because of my delightful personality and also because I’m so well behaved.  I’m completely housebroken and I haven’t had any accidents at all.  Besides that, I can be trusted to roam free in the house even when no one is home.  I never cause any trouble or get into things that aren’t mine.  I’m happy and bouncy and goofy and fun.  I get along just great with everyone I’ve met and I’m a polite and friendly dog to spend time with.  My foster home is sometimes busy and loud, but that doesn’t bother me a bit.  I love to go for walks and run and play in the backyard.  I’m also smart and I know all sorts of commands that I can’t wait to show you.  Foster Mom stays patient and calm with me and she praises me when I’m a good girl, so I’ve quickly learned all the house rules and I love to make her happy by following them.  I will do the same for you! I live with other animals in my foster home and I’m proud to say that we all get along really well!  First off, there’s a cat.  He hissed at me the first day and I’ve left him alone ever since.  Then there’s an older, smaller dog who doesn’t really like to play, so I leave him alone too.  Lastly, there is a friendly dog about my age and size and we love to run and play and nap together.  We’re best of friends!  I also live with teenagers and they are pretty cool!  They’re so fun to hang out with.  I haven’t spent time around young kids under 5 or so and I might be too big and strong for some of them.  Why don’t you just plan to bring the whole family to meet me and we can see how we all get along. I hope you decide that I might be the perfect match for your family!  I’m adaptable and happy and I love to have a good time.  I don’t like being homeless though and I long for the day that I have a forever family to call my very own.  I want to make your life more fun just by having me as part of it.  Please, let me do that for you!”

Waif Wednesday

Please welcome our Waifs of the Week: Vivi, Brewster, and Clif!

“Pleased to meet you! My name is Vivi. What’s yours? I don’t mean to brag, but I’ve heard people say I am one of the cutest and sweetest girls at Wayside. I have a beautiful round face, glowing copper eyes, and an adorable chunky little body. Black is very slimming, right? I love people. I’m a friendly girl who enjoys attention and affection. If you pet me, I will let you know how much I am loving it with my loud, soulful purr. My midnight-colored coat is like black velvet, so you will love petting me as much as I love having you do it! Right now at Wayside, I have a roommate, and we are getting along just fine. So if you have a friendly cat at home who needs a feline friend, I might be a good fit, as long as proper introductions are followed. There’s one more thing you should know about me: I am FIV-positive. It’s really no big deal. It just means that I need an indoors-only lifestyle, good food, and regular veterinary care. In return, I promise you a lifetime of cuteness and cuddles. Does that sound good to you?”

Learn more about Vivi here.

“Hey there! Thanks for reading about me. My name is Brewster and I’m a two-year-old fella looking for a family to love forever and ever. I’ve definitely moved around a bit and I’m looking for something stable and permanent. I know it won’t be long until I find a home of my very own. I’m a smart guy and I know “Sit”, “Down” and “Stay”. I love treats and toys and I know you and I can learn all sorts of treats and commands together. I aim to please and your praise will motivate me. I need a home with a tall fence and I can’t be left outside alone. I’m an athletic guy and I can easily scale a fence if left unattended. I’m confident and friendly and I can make friends pretty easily. I love getting belly rubs and giving kisses! I do pretty well on a leash and I’d love to release some energy by going on a walk or a run with you. After our adventure we can hang out and relax. I’m up for anything as long as I’m with you. I do ask that you bring the whole family, including four-legged friends to come meet me. I want to make sure we’re all a good fit for each other. I can’t wait to meet you. Come to Wayside and ask to say hi to Brewster!”

Learn more about Brewster here.

“Orange you glad you are reading about me? I sure am! Hi there, my name is Clif, and I’m a very handsome classic orange, or “red” tabby. I came to Wayside from another shelter that was low on space. I’m tickled pink to be here, where I just know I will find the purrfect person or people for me. I’m a friendly, laid-back, mellow fellow. I enjoy being petted, and my favorite thing is to just roll around, purr and make air biscuits while you are talking to me. I really helps me concentrate on what you are saying as I hang on your every word. Wouldn’t you love to come home and tell me all about your day? When I had my Felineality test here, they told me I’m a Sidekick. That was no surprise to me. You see, my mission in life is to just hang out beside my favorite person or people, making them look and feel good. Think I could do that for you?”

Waif Wednesday

Please welcome our Waifs of the Week:

“Hey there! My name is Maddox and I’m a sweet fella looking for my forever home! I’m just over a year and a half old and I’m as sweet as can be! I came to Wayside when my last shelter ran out of space. It’s okay though! I know this is my last stop before I find a family to spend life with! I’m very friendly and I love people! I love giving kisses and getting belly rubs. I’m also pretty smart. I know “Sit” and I know that we can learn even more tricks and commands together. I can be a little jumpy when I’m excited so I’m looking for a family who is willing to put in the time and effort for training. I love spending time outside and I walk pretty well on a leash. I think it would be great to go for a run or a hike with you. After some exercise I’ll cuddle up right next to you. If you’ve got canine friends, I do ask that you bring them with you so I can meet them before going home. I just want to make sure we’re all a good fit for each other. If you’re looking for a sweet best friend to go through life with, look no further! I might just be the dog for you! I’ll be waiting!”

“Hello Friend, My name is Moxie! Life up until now, hasn’t been easy. You see, I was adopted from Wayside nearly 5 years ago as an adorable sweet little kitten. I loved my family so much, so when they decided to give me up I was completely heartbroken. Much to the dismay of the wonderful staff and volunteers at Wayside, I became visibly depressed, stopped eating, and really just gave up on life. Just when I thought I could no longer go on, one of the veterinarians decided to foster me. He scooped me up, hugged me close, and told me that everything would be all right. And you know what, he was right! He knew that somewhere in my deep sad eyes was a happy kitty that just needed some time and love to heal from my broken heart. I still miss my family, but his family taught me that love cures all, and I’m happy to be with them. As you can clearly see from my photos, I’m a darling brown and white tabby with a snuggly round face. I’m built for snuggles and cuddles, which I’m sure you’ll love during these cold winter months. I have free-roam of my foster families lower-level. I’ve found a safe hidey spot that I spend most of my time in. When my foster family comes down to see me, I happily leave my safe spot to follow them around and ask for attention. I’m a simple cat, that enjoys simple things. I am a bit independent, but I bond closely with my people and enjoy being near them. In my ideal home, I’d be the only cat. In my last home, there were three cats altogether. Sometimes we co-existed, but mostly we didn’t like sharing our things or the attention we got from our family. I’ll love you so much, you won’t ever need another kitty! I have met a friendly dog in my foster home. I gave him a good whap, and then went about my business. The dog was understanding, so we continued to live together just fine. I’ve also been around small children in my foster home. The little humans are very friendly, but they can also be fast and loud. I like getting pets from them, but will sometimes retreat to my hidey-hole for safety. My foster dad says I have wonderful house-manners! He loves that I use my litterbox so well, and that I keep my area nice and tidy. I love my foster family, but I’m ready to find a family of my very own. Someone(s) who will love me unconditionally. In return, I promise to be your very best friend for the rest of my days and love you with all that I am. I really hope you’ll call to meet me soon, I can’t wait to finally meet you!”

“Hi there. My name is Sissy and I am a 3 year old girl. My coat is all white, just like snow! I weigh about 46 pounds and am a pretty strong girl. I came to Wayside from another shelter when they ran out of room. The prior shelter thought I might be hard of hearing; the folks at Wayside are still trying to determine if that’s true. I am food and toy motivated and just a bundle of energy. I mostly know how to sit, but especially so if you have a treat in your hand! While I am full of energy, I also love to cuddle with people, enjoy snuggling on the couch and getting belly rubs. You should see my tail go when I am excited! I would love to meet you and anyone you have in your house, including your 4 legged children. It’d be pretty awesome if I could go home with you today! If you think I’m the right girl for you, please come see me today.”

Waif Wednesday

Please welcome our Waifs of the Week: Brutus, Jammers, and Red Boy!

“Hi everyone! The name’s Brutus, and I’m a two-year-old handsome boy! I was brought to Wayside Waifs as a stray, wondering the streets, until the wonderful animal control officer picked me up and brought me here. I couldn’t be more grateful for a warm place to sleep! Let me tell you a little bit about myself. Yes, I have wonderful brown markings and striking brown eyes. Let me tell you I am also extremely smart! I know the commands come, sit, shake, down, and stay. WOW! I love treats, toys, and praise, and I am ready to learn more with you. I’m a goofy and lovable guy who likes spending time with people. I get a little jumpy when playing, so having owners used to my play style and size will be essential. I’m a big boy, so I want you to feel comfortable walking me and hanging out with me. I ask that you walk me with a harness to be on the safe side! Based on some of my meetings with dogs here, we ask that I go to a home with no dogs, no cats, and no little furries running around. I know it’s a lot to ask, but I am a sizable guy and I don’t want to hurt anyone! I am a confident boy in new situations, so I would love to meet you! Thanks for reading about me. I’m a real sweet boy and I’m just looking for my peeps. Come out to Wayside and ask for Brutus; you will not be disappointed.”

“Hey you! Thanks for clicking on my photo! I’m Jammers and I am 5 years old. My old owners brought me to Wayside a little while ago because it just wasn’t the right time for them to have a pet. It’s been hard not having them around anymore, but I’m learning to get back on my feet. I enjoy playing, cuddling, but, most of all, socializing! They call me a Leader of the Band around here because I love meeting new people and making new friends. I am very friendly and sweet towards adults but I’m not quite sure about little humans just yet. They tend to be loud and handsy which can be a little overwhelming at times. I prefer a home with people over 10 years old and no other cats, I want to be the center of attention! In return for your cooperation, love, and treats I will be sure to give you lots of headbutts, kisses, and purrs! A pretty good trade off if you ask me. What’s not to love? I’ll do great in the litter box, I’ll happily greet your guests, and overall be an amazing companion. Hope to see you soon!”

“Who could resist a big dog named Red Boy?  I’m 59 pounds of sweetness and would love to meet you.  I may be a little shy at first but I warm up quickly and you’ll see how affectionate I am.  I soak up attention from people and have a lot of love to give right back!  That’s why I’m hoping to quit the shelter life and find a loving family ASAP! I’m a confident guy and will show you how I sit on command and come when called.  If you want to teach me more commands I’d be delighted, especially if you reward me with a yummy treat or two!  Would you like a companion to take walks with you?  I want to see everything there is to see on walks (it’s so exciting out there) and with your help to improve my leash skills, I can learn not to pull and become your perfect walking buddy.  And when we come home, we can settle in for a great belly rubbing session! I’ve met a couple dogs here at Wayside and have shown I’m pretty cool in that situation.  (Actually, I’m more interested in people!)  If you have other dogs at home, I hope you’ll bring them when you come to see me.  That way we can make sure we all get along! Do me a favor…come soon so we can see if we belong together.  I’m thinking it’ll be a win!”

Waif Wednesday

Please welcome our Waifs of the Week: Big Buddy, Moses, and Jerry!

“Hi guys! My name is Big Buddy and I’m a 10-month-old fella. I came to Wayside Waifs from another shelter and I’m extremely grateful to be in good hands here! Even though I’m a young pup, I’m highly intelligent and know the command “Sit”. I could benefit from basic obedience training to add more commands to my skill set. I’m a huge lover of toys, so the more toys, the happier I’ll be. Since I love toys so much, they tend to become a distraction, but don’t worry, I’ll still give you all the attention you deserve! I’m very friendly towards humans and my fellow canine counterparts. If you already have any canine family members, I recommend you bring them in to meet me before taking me home. If you’re searching for a future best friend, look no further and come and ask to meet me!”

“’Holy Moses!’ is what you might say when you first lay eyes on me. That’s because I’m one big beautiful kitty — a kitty who is waiting ever so patiently to find my new forever home. I’ve come to Wayside because my previous family could no longer care for me. I’m used to a home with kids and a small dog — but no big dogs please, they scare me. My feline-ality is Personal Assistant, so you’ll never have to worry about being lonely. I’ll be at your side while you get all your chores done, then hop up on your lap when it’s time to relax. I don’t like to brag, but I’m pretty darn popular with the volunteers and staff here at Wayside. You’ll hear words like “gentle,” “sweet,” and “affectionate” tossed around as they describe their interactions with me. Please know that my initial testing indicated that I’m FIV+. That just means I’ll need a good healthy diet, regular vet visits, and an indoors-only lifestyle. An adoption counselor can answer any questions you may have. If you’re ready for a special new addition to your family, let’s get the conversation started. I’ll be right here inside the “Purr Palace” eagerly awaiting your visit. Can’t wait to meet you.”

“Howdy! My name is Jerry. I’m a five-year-old fella looking for a family to call my own. I came to Wayside from another shelter. Starting over can be scary but I know this is my last stop before I find my forever home. I’m a sweet boy who likes attention. I would love to be able to run and play and go on adventures. I’ve done well as a running dog with some of Wayside’s volunteers. Maybe we can go explore the neighborhood together? I’m also pretty smart. I know “Come”, “Sit”, and “Stay”. I bet with some treats we can learn some more things together! I’m pretty serious about my food, so I’ll need a home where I’ve got a safe space to eat away from kiddos and other animals. I don’t want to accidentally hurt someone. Speaking of kiddos, I would do best in a home with children over the age of five. If you’re looking for a new best pal, I just might be the dog for you. I’ll be waiting for you at Wayside! Come on down and ask to meet me!”
